Anti-tank gun pillboxes at Banstead

Built in 1940, this pillbox has now generally been accepted as the largest anti-tank gun type built in the UK. Situated next to the railway cutting, close by Banstead Tennis Club it is pictured in the 1950s shortly before its demolition. Four other pillboxes of the same type (now known as a Banstead Fort) have been identified in the area; all are now destroyed.
