Woodmansterne Lane

Undated view looking towards The Woodman and the former Manor Farm, before Chipstead Way was laid.

It is almost a century since the bell tower of St Peter's Church could be seen from here !

Today, St Peter's Church Hall (opened on 19th October 1957) and car park occupy the site of that barn.

To the left of the photographer, set back from the road, stands the former corrugated tin Reading Room, which was gifted to the village and existed up until its demolition in the 1960's.
