Children by a pond in Woodmansterne.

This is one of at least three ponds in Woodmansterne, all now long gone.

It is in Rectory Lane and was near the old Rectory.
The cottage to the right is one of two cottages called Rectory Cottages in 1891. One of the cottages served teas for the many cyclists and walkers who arrived as day trippers from London to enjoy the delights of the countryside after the railway came to Chipstead and Banstead Downs station.
