Pewter jugs from The Black Boy in Banstead

Two pewter jugs from the Black Boy (latterly The Wheatsheaf). H Shallcross inscribed on both. I have found the 1851 census for The Black Boy, difficult to read but Robert Shallcrass/Shallcrafs was the landlord.

Comments:
What a fascinating find, Jane. Are they yours? Are they on display? Do you have any more information about them? (Questions, questions! Sorry...!)

The landlord of the Black Boy beer house was Robert Shallcross/Shallcrass he died in about 1862 but does not appear on the 1861 census. The Black Boy does not appear on the 1861 census either but there is an un-named beer house listed but the landlord is a Parfitt. The mugs may be for the son of Robert Shallcrass, Henry Lewis Shallcrass.
