Peter, thank you for identifying some of the children here - in particular my brother, Anthony Denton. I haven't seen this school photo before, and because Tony died from multiple cancer in 2010, aged just 60, it has some poignancy for me. Thank you again.

I knew a few of the children in the photo.
Trevor Brady 3rd row down sitting next to Mrs Gardner, and Andy Wells in front row sitting in front of Trevor. I also knew Mick Hill.

UPDATE: I’ve just checked Banstead Junior School’s archived log book, which reveals the teacher was Miss Patricia Ann Gardiner, who taught there between 1957 and 1964. She lived at 45 Salisbury Road, Banstead.

Miss Gardener also helped out at the youth club in the church hall near the well.
At the club she was Peggy.
And great fun.
