Banstead Village

Never expected to see this corner again. I have a strong memory of waiting for my mother to come out of the door of the canteen on the right. She would open the door, tea-cloth in hand and give me an apple or a sweet.
She was a voluntary helper when the first school meals were served in 1942 or 1943 (?)
