The article on the 'Banstead Box' in the 2025 spring newsletter of Banstead History prompted me to post this photo taken near Box Hill by my father Edgar Phillips in 1922. It shows an AA man with his motorcycle and sidecar, talking to the driver of a water company lorry from Redhill. Scanning help kindly provided by Ralph Maciejewski of Banstead History.

I'm curious about the company mentioned on the side of the lorry. ?? Manufacturing Company at Nutfield, ?? hill (will/well??) works Nutfield and ??ery on the back of the cab.
Was distilled water for drinking or other purposes, eg topping up lead acid batteries, as well?

I presume the town below is Dorking
