The last day of Banstead Buses. The photograph shows the bus outside what is now the Marks and Spencers food store in Banstead.

The Woodmansterne to Chipstead Valley service started in 1959 and served the village for 27 years. When bus deregulation happened in 1986 Banstead Coaches decided to retire the service which from Monday 27 October 1986 was contracted out to Epsom Coaches by Surrey County Council.

As kids there were 2 main drivers Reg and Vick (Mr grumpy) Reg would always stop and pick us up when walking home - no charge.
