Village school playground This photo was taken by my late husband, Les Nicholson in the last year before the village school was demolished. I remember that he took his mother to see it one more time, as she had attended the school probably between about 1910 and 1915.Les and I attended this and the infants between 1939 and 1946. I was a pupil at the school in the early 1950s, and looking at this image some 70 years later (!) I'm really struck by the size of the huge windows - enabling not only superb natural light, but also plenty of summer fresh air. Good days.

I was working with the school secretary Mrs.Hill at the time the school closed - however she had been a pupil there in the 1930's.

I'm wondering if I'm in that photo... I'm sure I went to school with these kids, being the age of the photo.
Sad to see this building gone. but I understand the building was in disrepair.

Hi Marie, we hope to use this photograph in our newsletter but are you able to tell us if this was country dancing at the school, or ring-a-ring o' roses? It looks like the children are moving in towards the centre, so probably not the latter.
