Banstead Secondary Modern Entrance

This was the original boys entrance to Banstead Secondary Modern School colloquially referred to as Picquets Way School. My own attendance was from 1958 to 1962. Although the image was taken in 2022 very little has changed since its construction and opening on 17th February 1936.

Comments:
I knew this entrance well, and my first year Form Room (Room 5) was situated just off to the right of this picture.

This building was known as the "Classroom Block" in the 1970's, or so, when I was there, as it was all classrooms, with no laboratories, or craft rooms, etc.

It is now known as the "North Block", because of the new buildings built to the West(i.e. at the back of the school).

The block at the bottom end of the school was known as the "Practical Block" as it had most of the laboratories, and craft rooms in it.

It is now known as the "South Block".
