Gardener at Yewlands

Taken in about 1900, it shows the Hobson family standing in front of Yewlands Lodge, Banstead. Joseph Hobson (standing) was Head Gardener at Yewlands, the main house and estate owned by the Robertson Rodger family. He is shown with his wife Emma, two sons - John (seated right) and Thomas (seated left); and daughter Mabel. Joseph was later Verger and Parish Clerk at All Saints Church.

Comments:
A lovely photo John of your family outside Yewlands. My ancestors the Reygate's lived in Banstead on the 1881 census George Reygate his wife and young family were living at Yewlands Cottages, he was a gardener there. I have several photos of the family from around that time taken in Banstead but unfortunately we cannot name who they are.
